Design principles of MOF-related materials for highly stable metal anodes in secondary metal-based batteries

Secondary metal-based batteries (lithium metal batteries, sodium and zinc batteries) have appealed to increasing attention because of their high energy density. However, uncontrolled dendrite growth infinite volume expansion can readily cause cycle performance deterioration serious security concerns, which restrict practical applications a large extent. Recently, some coping strategies based on metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) derived materials been proposed that demonstrate significant availability great promise in constructing highly stable anodes. relatively comprehensive overview dissects the functions MOF-based structure features diverse MOFs simultaneously covers all kinds is still absent. Here, according recent achievements, we roundly summarize design principles MOF-related for (lithium, sodium, zinc) anodes further provide suggestions future developments. This review not only highlights important roles MOF structures treatment strategies, but also endeavors enlightening guidance designing dendrite-free batteries.
